The Illinois Department of Transportation will close Cleveland Road at Interstate 80 on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 9 AM, weather permitting. The closure is necessary to replace a beam on the westbound I-80 bridge that was damaged by a truck carrying a crane in January. The work is scheduled to be completed by 4 PM and signage will be used to inform motorists during the project. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Avoid the work area, when feasible, and use of an alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
