If you’re planning to run in the annual Kewanee Hog Days Stampede, the course has been marked and the countdown is on. It’s year 47 for the annual Stampede and, per the tradition, the legendary Nelson Lay and his capable assistant, Jay Cone, marked the course just last week. The 1 mile Hog Jog starts in the 100 block of South Chestnut with the 4 mile course commencing in the 200 block. The Finish Line is located in front of the Kewanee YMCA. In a first for the event, members of the Marine Corp Band, who will be in town to perform and take part in the Hog Days Parade, will also be taking part in the Hog Days Stampede.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to enter either the 1 or 4 mile event. Entry forms are available at Breedlove’s Sporting Goods locations and the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce office. Online registration is encouraged and can be completed through www.getmeregistered.com/hogdaystampede. Forms can also be downloaded at www.kewanee-il.com and click on the Hog Day Stampede tab The 2023 Hog Day Stampede is sponsored by the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce and presented by Breedlove’s Sporting Goods, Galva-Kewanee-Stark County Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists, Community State Bank and OSF Healthcare St. Luke Medical Center.
