Registration is still open for the Fall Semester for an Associate of Applied Science degree for Court Reporting at the Black Hawk College Quad Cities Campus.  Court reporting is a fast-paced and rewarding career with immediate employment opportunities in the Quad Cities.  You can start your career at Black Hawk College with the Court Reporting Technology Program.

Court reporters play a vital and valued role in courtrooms, depositions and other legal proceedings. Students learn how to use the stenotype machine and build speed for real-time reporting. The program includes a supervised internship, which allows students to try potential career options before graduating with an Associate in Applied Science degree.

Classes are offered in person, online and hybrid. The 60-credit-hour program can be completed in five semesters in two years.  Careers include official court reporter, freelance reporter, TV broadcast captioner and computer-aided real-time transcriptionist (CART).

The BHC program prepares students for most states’ Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) exam and the national Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) exam.

Fall classes start Monday, August 21, 2023. For more information, contact Darcy Jeffries at [email protected] or 309-854-1822.
