William Merritt III:  William Merritt III remains in custody on a $150,000 (10%) bond. Merritt has two open cases, the most recent charge is in connection to an altercation that resulted in a male subject suffering serious injuries from a stabbing.  At the Final Pre-Trial hearing, Defense Attorney Camp requested a Motion to Continue to discuss the next cases.  The Final Pre-Trial is continued to November 28, 2022, at 10 AM.  Merritt had a Jury Trial on October 6, 2022, for Theft $500<$10,000 (Class 3 Felony), Criminal Damage to Government Property $500-$10,000 (Class 3 Felony), Theft/Unauthorized Control <$500 (Class A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Damage to Government Property <$500 (Class 4 Felony) for 2021CF382.  Before the Jurors were sworn in, William Merritt III accepted an open plea deal in court.

Merritt is charged with Possession of Meth <5 Grams (Class 3 Felony) and Delivery of Meth <5 Grams (Class 2 Felony) for 2021CF381.  The most recent charge against William Merritt III is Aggravated Battery/Greater Bodily harm (Class 3 Felony) for 2022CF191.

Gage Peed:  Gage Peed, 19, of Kewanee accepted a Plea Deal on Monday.  He pleaded guilty to Count 1 of Driving under the influence of drugs and the other Counts were dismissed by the State.  Gage Peed received fines and assessments and 364 days in the Henry County Jail to run concurrent with his sentence for violating probation in case 2022CF13.  Gage Peed pleaded guilty to Count 3 of Criminal Trespass to Residence with Persons Present in April of 2022.  Gage Peed was given two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and up to one year supervised release for the probation violation.  Upon release from IDOC, Mr. Peed must report to Court Services and provide a current address and setup a payment plan for the fines and assessments.

Nathanael Wood:  Nathanael Wood remains in custody on a $100,000 (10%) bond. The State offered Mr. Wood a plea deal and the Defense sent a counter proposal back to the State.  The State Attorney’s Office did not accept the counter proposal from the Defense.  The Final Pre-Trial is continued to November 10, 2022, at 2 PM to determine if the case will go to trial.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in the Lion’s Den parking lot and arrested Nathanael Wood and Mary Gear for possession of weapons, drugs and a stolen vehicle.  Nathanael Wood is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine/under 5 grams (Class 3 Felony), 2 counts of Possession/Use of a Firearm by a Felon (Class 3 Felony), 2 counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony).
