The Henry and Stark County Health Department and First Choice Healthcare now have the Covid-19 Bivalent Booster for Ages 6 Mos to 5 Years of age. All area residents 6 months of age and older can get a Bivalent Covid-19 Booster vaccination through the First Choice Healthcare locations in Kewanee and Colona. Covid-19 vaccinations are available on a “Walk-In” basis with no need for an appointment Monday-Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM at the First Choice Healthcare locations in Kewanee, 110 N. Burr Blvd. 309-852-5272, and in Colona, 103 1st Street 309-792-4011.
Those eligible for the Moderna & Pfizer Bivalent Single Booster Doses include:
- Pfizer – 12 years of age and older (minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
- Moderna – 6 mos of age and older (minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).
- Anyone who has completed their primary Covid-19 vaccination series.
- Anyone who has received their most recent primary series or booster dose at least two months prior to receiving the new bivalent booster shot.
- The new bivalent vaccines are designed to offer extra protection against the omicron variants which are now the dominant strain of the virus.
Getting up to date now is especially important for those who are at risk of serious outcomes as the updated vaccines offer protection from hospitalization and even death.
Please note, those under 12 years of age that originally got the Pfizer primary and/or monovalent booster may get the Moderna 6 yrs+ Bivalent booster. It is now allowed to mix and match Covid-19 (Moderna/Pfizer) boosters for everyone over the age of 6 months and older.
There is No Cost for the Bivalent Covid-19 Boosters or Initial Series Covid vaccines. We remind residents seeking vaccinations at our Kewanee and Colona locations that appointments are not being taken and pre-registration is not necessary. Simply come to the clinic during the Monday-Friday, 8 m to 4 PM.
