DeJesus and Daulton Remain in Jail on Charges Related to the Sexual Assault of a Child

Melcon DeJesus, 41, and Nicole Daulton, 40, both of Kewanee, remain in custody of the Henry County Jail on $500,000 (10%) bonds.  Neither DeJesus nor Daulton appear to be close to trial, labs and test results are delaying progress on the cases.  DeJesus has a Jury Pre-Trial scheduled for December 22, 2022, at 11 AM.  Daulton has a Jury Pre-Trial scheduled for December 15, 2022, at 10 AM.

On March 23, 2021 the Kewanee Police Department was made aware of a complaint of sexual assault to a child under the age of 13. An investigation resulted in the immediate arrest of one of the two suspects. On March 24, 2021, Nicole Daulton was arrested and charged with three (3) counts of Permitting the Sexual Abuse of a Child (Class 1 Felony). A Class 1 Felony carries a potential sentence of 4 to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.  The second suspect, Melcon DeJesus was captured in Lansing, Michigan, in April of 2021 by the Western District of Michigan Fugitive Task Force. DeJesus was transported to the Henry County Jail to face charges of Four (4) counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child under 13 (Class X Felony).
