On January 30, 2023, Dhnae Jackson accepted a plea deal in the accident that injured Cody Bennett. Dhnae Jackson, 23, of Kewanee, plead guilty to Count 1 of Aggravated DUI/Bodily Harm and Count 2 will be dismissed. Jackson got 30 months probation (expires on 7/27/2025), 180 days in jail with day-for-day credit (credit for 90 days already served), pay fines and assessments of $1,959 by 6/2/2023, submit blood, saliva or tissue to the Illinois State Police and attend Victim Panel for Impaired Drivers on 6/22/2023 at 6 PM.
Around 8:50 PM on May 19th, Bureau County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a head-on accident on 750 North in rural Neponset. Dhnae Jackson crossed the center line and struck the vehicle driven by Cody Bennett head-on. Cody Bennett was transported to a Peoria Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Cody Bennett spent months in the hospital and rehabilitation center for surgeries and physical rehabilitation and returned home to Kewanee on August 18, 2022.
