Dhnae Jackson Accident Trial that Critically Injured Cody Bennett Pushed back to February 6th

The trial for the DUI Accident that critically injured Cody Bennett in rural Neponset in May has been pushed back to February.  Dhnae Jackson appeared in court on January 3, 2023, for a final pre-trial conference.  The Final Pre-Trial Conference is continued to January 27th at 8:45 AM.  The Jury Trial is now scheduled for February 6th at 9 AM in Princeton at the Bureau County Courthouse.  On October 5, 2022, two counts of Aggravated DUI/Bodily Harm (Class 4 Felony) were filed and an indictment for each count was returned on October 14th for case 2022CF59.  Jackson had her First Appearance on October 26, 2022, where she pleaded Not Guilty and demanded a Jury Trial.  Dhnae Jackson was released on November 1st with a Electronic Home Monitoring bracelet.  Ms. Jackson is allowed limited movements, such as court dates and doctor appointments.  Jackson is prohibited from consuming illegal drugs or alcohol as part of her bond conditions.

On May 19, 2022, around 8:50 PM, Bureau County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a head-on accident on 750 North in rural Neponset.  Dhnae Jackson of Kewanee allegedly crossed the center line and struck the vehicle driven by Cody Bennett of Kewanee head-on.  Cody Bennett was transported to a Peoria Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  After months of surgeries and rehabilitation, Cody Bennett returned home to Kewanee on August 18th, where Kewanee residents welcomed him home with a parade.
