The Wanee Cinemas is playing host to Disney’s Haunted Mansion this weekend. The second attempt by Disney to turn the theme park favorite into a feature film franchise, The Haunted Mansion stars LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, and Danny Devito in a story that is loosely based on the story told in the Disney theme park. Rosario Dawson plays a single mother who inherits a decrepit mansion that happens to be one of the most haunted homes in America. In need of help to save her new home for her and her son, she turns to a team of ghost hunters headed up by Owen Wilson. He recruits an Astrophysicist, played by LaKeith Stanfield, a professor played by Danny Devito, and a psychic medium played by Tiffany Haddish to investigate and potentially solve the haunting of this mansion home. Jamie Lee Curtis also co-stars.

The original film take on The Haunted Mansion was released in 2003 and starred Eddie Murphy. That film is not well remembered and did not perform well at the box office. This new take on Haunted Mansion has an uphill battle at the box office going up against the twin box office monsters of Barbie and Oppenheimer. Critics aren’t doing Haunted Mansion any favors. According to RottenTomatoes.com, the film has only 40% positive reviews from critics around the country. Regardless of what critics say, you can make up your own mind by seeing Haunted Mansion starting this weekend at the Wanee Cinemas.
