The Kewanee City Council approved the purchase of new Christmas decorations for poles in the downtown area of Kewanee. The purchase includes 85 total new decorations for poles in the downtown area to replace the current decorations from the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce. The Kewanee Chamber of Commerce will hang their holiday decorations on Main and Tenney Streets this year. The total for the new decorations is $54,325, including $2,500 for shipping. The Council also approved the “white glove service” for $12,750 ($150 per decoration). The purchase includes: two Grand Bolero firework style, 42 Mia Snowflakes, 40 Givre Snowflakes and one Grand Mia Snowflake. The City of Kewanee hopes to purchase additional decorations during the Company’s end-of-season sales.
City Clerk Kasey Mitchell said the “White Glove Service” pays for the company to install the lights, remove them after the season and store them in a temperature-controlled building. The company will also replace any of the LED bulbs when they burn out. The $12,750 “white glove service” fee does not include future purchases, a $150 fee will apply to each new decoration for this service.
