Drive-by Shooting on Park Avenue in Kewanee

Kewanee Police are investigating a early Saturday morning drive-by shooting on Park Avenue.  Police were dispatched to Park Avenue and South Park Street for a shots fired call around 5:18 AM on November 5, 2022.  A house in the 500 block of Park Avenue was the apparent target and one stray bullet stuck a house on South Park Street.  The investigation confirmed that 14  shots were fired at the residence.  No people were struck by any bullets at the targeted residence.  One stray bullet entered through a bedroom wall of a residence in the 200 block of South Park Street where a resident was sleeping but did not strike anyone.

 The spent shell casings, fired rounds, and other items were photographed and collected as evidence.  Officers conducted a canvas of the area and collected surveillance footage that captured the suspect vehicle fleeing the area at the time of the shooting.  

Officers were able to identify persons of interest and the potential suspect vehicle.  The persons of interest were located and transported to the Kewanee Police Department for questioning.  The vehicle was seized as evidence.  Search warrants have been issued and investigators anticipate that charges for parties involved in the shooting will be filed soon.  Anyone that has information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Kewanee Police Department at 309-853-1911.
