Early Morning Fire in Moline Sends Five People to the Hospital

An early morning fire sends five people, including a baby, to the hospital on September 10, 2023.  Around 4 AM, a fire was reported at 1527 19th Avenue in Moline. While en route to the fire, the Moline Fire Department learned that occupants, including a baby, of the home were still inside the structure. Moline Police arrived to find bystanders helping people off the roof of the house using ladders, according to the Moline Fire Department. The first fire company arrived in six minutes and reported two structures were on fire. Moline Fire Department requested a Box Alarm for additional ambulances for several occupants that required medical attention. The first fire company on scene began an attack on the fire of the first house. Ambulances began providing advanced medical treatment as they arrived and transported five people to area hospitals. The next fire companies arriving on scene entered the adjacent structure and extinguished the fire inside that residence. The fires were under control in about 30 minutes but crews remained on scene for three house searching for hot spots. The smoke detectors in the residence alerted the occupants to the fire.

The Moline Fire Department was assisted by East Moline, Rock Island, Coal Valley and Arsenal Fire Departments. Moline Second Alarmers, MidAmerican Energy and the Red Cross assisted at the scene as well.
