    Peak afternoon heat indices between 100 to 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
    WHEN
    Until 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Early Registration Open for the 2023 KAUW Halloween Hustle 5K

The annual Kewanee Area United Way 5K Halloween Hustle is on October 21, 2023, at 9 AM at the Flemish American Club, located at 313 N Burr Blvd, Kewanee. Check in at the Flemish American Club no later than 8:45 AM. The race route is “out and back spooky” with a few hills. There are prizes for the top female and male runners. There are medals for the top three female and male finishers and for funniest and scariest costumes.

Register at www.RunSignUp.com First 30 registered receive a swag bag! The cost is $20 if you register by September 12th, $25 if you register by October 12 and $30 if you register by October 20th. The cost includes a chip-timed course and a short-sleeve shirt if registered by 10/12/23 at 11:59pm.

You can pick-up your race packing on 10/20 from 2-5:30 PM at Breedlove’s, 112 N Tremont St, Kewanee, or on 10/21 from 8-8:30 AM at The Flemish 313 N Burr Blvd Kewanee

Ages 10-17 must register and be accompanied by a registered adult; registered adults 18 and over may bring children 9 and younger at no cost (families welcome!) *Strollers and costumes with wheels welcome; please start at the back.
