Robert Ely, 57, has been found guilty of First Degree Murder, Residential Burglary, and Theft connected to the death of well-known surgeon, Dr. William Marshall, 92. Ely’s conviction came after a six-day jury trial in Peoria, Illinois. Dr. Marshall was found stabbed in his home with valuable paintings worth over $200,000 missing. Ely was linked to the crime through surveillance footage and a home healthcare worker’s testimony. The case’s sentencing is set for April 25th.
