Fatal Accident on US Route 34 Leaves One Dead in Knox County


The Illinois State Police have announced that one person has died and several others suffered serious injuries in an accident that occurred on November 3rd, 2022. According to the IL State Police, the accident occurred just after 7 Pm on November 3rd, on US Route 34 near Seminary Street in Knox County. A vehicle driven by 22 year old Roly V. Molenga was driving a vehicle eastbound on US Route 34 with one passenger, 25 year old Donnel Matthews. At the time of the accident, Molenga’s vehicle left the road and crossed the median into the Westbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by 39 year old Kyle J. Reffett of Avon, Illinois. The second vehicle had three passengers including 30 year old Travis D. Clayton of Abingdon, Illinois, a 10 year old female from Avon, and a 7 year old male from Avon.

Molenga was killed in the accident while the passenger in her vehicle was airlifted from the scene with serious injurues. Kyle Reffett, Travis Clayton and the 10 year old passenger in the second vehicle were also airlifted from the scene with serious injuries. The 7 year old male passenger was taken from the scene by an ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. No other information regarding the accident or the investigation of the accident has been released.
