Volunteers started hanging flags as part of the American Flag Project on Thursday, despite the winds. RegionalMediaNews caught up with Jeanna Moore, Gary Moore, Dianne Packee and Denny Packee as they were hanging flags in the downtown area. Jeanna Moore thanked Denny and Dianne Packee, Steve Faber, Gary Moore and Breedlove’s Sporting Goods for helping to get the flags ready for another year. Steve Faber worked on converting the flags to a hook system over the winter, they previously slid onto the flag post. Jeanna Moore posted on her Facebook page “This project could not continue to move forward without the help of great volunteers year to year! I am so incredibly proud of this project. Thank you to everyone’s donations we will keep it going until our money runs out! We lost a lot of flags last year due to the winds. This year with my health issues we have decided to only do our downtown area and from the railroad tracks to the radio station. This will still be beautiful but easier for us to handle”.
Donations are accepted at the Kewanee Branch of The State Bank of Toulon under The American Flag Project.
