The Galesburg Police Department, alongside several other local law enforcement agencies, recently took part in what they called Increase Proactive Patrols. The results from these patrols, which occurred August 22nd and 23rd, are below along with a press release from the City of Galesburg touting the success of the program. Increased Proactive Patrols is an effort to prevent crimes before they occur by increasing law enforcement presence in areas where the community has informed law enforcement of crimes regularly occurring.
Galesburg, IL (August 30, 2023) The Galesburg Police Department, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police Special Operations Group, FBI Western Illinois TOC-West Task Force, and FBI Quad Cities Safe Streets Task Force recently implemented a proactive patrol aimed at improving community safety. The increased proactive enforcement was a collaborative effort on August 22 – 23, 2023, which utilized increased patrols aimed at reducing criminal activity within the Galesburg and Knox County region.
The proactive enforcement campaign resulted in the following citations, arrests, and seizures.

This proactive enforcement campaign was effective at removing illegal guns and drugs from the streets, as well as arresting or citing as appropriate for illegal activity. The combined effort of multiple agencies was able to produce substantive results in a short period of time.
