Galesburg Apartment Fire Intentionally Set

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a call at an apartment complex on Monday January 8th, 2024. Firefighters were deployed at approximately 6:28 AM to  a multifamily apartment building, at 684 Home Boulevard in Galesburg. There, firefighters located four residents trapped on the second floor of the building, on a balcony. Acting quickly, Firefighters from the Fremont Street station deployed ladders and rescued the trapped residents. This occurred as the acting Captain made entry onto the second floor and rescued an additional occupant through the heavy smoke and fire.

Early indications are that the fire was intentionally set. The Galesburg Fire Department investigators are continuing to investigate and gather evidence regarding the fire. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries due to the fire.
