    WHAT
    Peak afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
    WHEN
    From noon Saturday to 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Galesburg Fire Hydrant Testing Schedule for June 26 and 27, 2023

Crews will be working in the area of Costa Drive, Webber, Montague and then the area around Walmart and Menards on June 26 and in the area of Volunteer Drive and continuing around Walmart, Menards, and OSF St Mary’s Hospital. Then moving over to Harrison Street, to include Greenleaf, Dudley, Klein, and Rock Island. on June 27, 2023.  Hydrant testing will be conducted from Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.  Each day’s hydrant testing schedule will be posted daily on the City of Galesburg website as well as local radio stations and news media.  There may be a slight drop in pressure or a presence of discoloration from the minerals and sediment that are being flushed out of the system. Service should not be disrupted during the flushing process.
