Galesburg Firefighters Put Down Two Garage Fires

The Galesburg Fire Department was dispatched on Thursday afternoon to battle a fire in a detached garage. According to information provided by the City of Galesburg, 911 was called at approximately 12:12 PM regarding a fire in a detached garage located at 254 and 266 Ohio Ave. Upon arrival, personnel encountered two detached garages on fire. Battalion Chief Dave Farrell established command, and access was gained from an alleyway behind the residences to attack the fire. The Brooks Street Station crew utilized multiple attack lines to extinguish the fires. The Central Station crews established a water supply and assisted in extinguishing the fires. Thankfully no one was harmed. The garages were however determined to be a total loss.
