Galesburg Police Issue Arrest Warrant in Monday Shooting Incident That Injured One

The Galesburg Police Department have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man in connection with a shooting that injured an 18 year old Galesburg resident. 31 year old John S. Thurman is wanted by Galesburg Police for the shooting that occurred just after 5 AM on Monday morning in the area of 128 Blaine Avenue. According to the information released by the Galesburg Police Department, officers were called to Blaine Avenue after a witness called regarding a man screaming in pain. That man was 18 year old Destin G. Sunberg who remains hospitalized from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. An investigation of the scene and canvassing of witnesses in the area led to Police to John S. Thurman. As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence located at 108 Blaine Avenue. Thurman’s whereabouts are currently unknown but Galesburg Police are actively searching for him. Thurman is charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. More charges could be coming in the case pending further review by the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office.
