Galva Chamber of Commerce to Honor Galva Citizen of the Year Michelle Mersman Saturday Night


Michelle Mersman is set to be honored as the Galva Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. Michelle was announced as this year’s honoree at a special event at Galva Elementary School on January 6th of this year. Michelle is known around Galva for her photography as the chamber of commerce referred to her as the ‘Eyes of Galva’ for her time dedicated to taking photos at local events, sporting events, and so on. Mersman works as a P.E Teacher at Galva and operates her own photography business as well. reached out to Michelle to ask her about what it feels like to be named Citizen of the Year by the Galva Area Chamber of Commerce…

“It is a great honor to be receiving this award from the Chamber of Commerce and the people of Galva. I have lived in Galva my whole life and remember individuals, many former recipients of this award, who were actively involved with school and community events. Since I started teaching here in Galva, I know how important it is to be involved and inspire generations to come to continue our town’s pride, create memories, and be a vital part of the community. I thank everyone for recognizing my efforts in this by awarding me your Citizen of the Year.” – Michelle Mersman

Michelle will be honored on Saturday, January 21st at the Galva Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Citizen of the Year Banquet. At the event, Michelle will be honored alongside other Galva citizens including Colleen A. Lewis, Deb VanDeVoorde Meyer and Heidi Millender, who also being honored for their work in the community.
