Marking April as Cancer Control Month, the Henry and Stark County Health Department and First Choice Healthcare align in battle against the second most common cause of death in America. RaeAnn Tucker, Health Department Director of Health Promotion, reiterates the need to reduce our chances of developing cancer by controlling lifestyle and environmental factors. Proposed steps include smoking cessation, regular vaccinations, maintaining a healthy weight, increasing fruit and vegetable intake, limiting saturated fat and alcohol, regular exercise, UV protection and safe work practices with harmful chemicals. With a partnership with the American Cancer Society, their aim is to prevent, detect, and treat this disease through awareness and practical information.
