In an initiative to curb firearm-related tragedies, Henry and Stark County Health Departments are distributing free gun locks. This comes in response to alarming national figures, with 64 Americans losing their lives to firearm suicide daily and locked firearms resulting in significantly lower risk of injuries. Available round-the-clock through the Veteran’s Crisis Line, this lifesaving device represents a step towards treating gun violence as a public health crisis. Residents can collect these locks from Health Department Offices and First Choice Healthcare clinics across Kewanee, Colona and Toulon. This is a critical step towards safeguarding lives from firearm accidents and impulse incidents.
