Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy Shoots and Kills Dog Following Dog Bite Incident in Orion

In Orion, Illinois, a distressing incident occurred when a local resident was bitten by a dog on the afternoon of June 27th. The incident prompted immediate response from both ambulance services and Henry County deputies. The victim received on-site medical attention before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care. Subsequently, the dog involved in the incident was located by deputies but displayed aggressive behavior, leading to a deputy discharging their firearm to neutralize the threat, resulting in the dog’s death. Authorities confirmed no other injuries occurred during this incident. The dog’s owner has been informed. Deputy Chief Ben Franklin, in a statement on social media stated: “This is an unfortunate incident to report and our thoughts are with all those involved.”
