    IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

    ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected across the watch area today, and again tonight into Sunday morning. Very high rainfall rates of 2 inches or greater in a short time are possible, which could lead to flash flooding particularly in urban areas. In addition, with the potential for repeated rounds of storms, some locations could receive 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible. With saturated soils from previous rainfall, these rainfall rates and rainfall amounts will lead to an increased risk for flash flooding.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office Have Not Yet Identified Skeletal Remains Found in Rural Kewanee

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office are asking for patience as they attempt to identify skeletal remains found in rural Henry County. In a statement released by Chief Ben Franklin indicated that the remains and ‘other items’ found at the scene are being examined in order to determine the identity of the person found. From the Henry County Sheriff’s Office release:

“In an effort for public transparency we would like to provide an update into the death investigation in which human remains were located in rural Kewanee on 03/10/24.
We ask for your patience and understanding as these types of incidents take time to complete. It involves multiple agencies and various resources all while being discreet to maintain the integrity of an active investigation.
The skeletal remains and other items collected at the scene are being tested. We will exhaust any and all resources to obtain identification of the victim. We are committed to bringing closure to the victim’s family and friends.
As more information is developed we will be as transparent as possible in providing updates.”
