In a recent incident in Clark County, an Illinois State Police squad car was struck by a motorist on Interstate 70. The trooper was investigating a separate weather-related crash when a red Ford, driven by 32-year-old Tiffany Paige Henderson of Florissant, MO, failed to yield and collided with the stationary squad car. Fortunately, no injuries were registered. Henderson is now facing charges for failing to yield to a stationary emergency vehicle, reducing speed to avoid a crash, and driving with a suspended license. This unfortunate event underlines the importance of adhering to the Move Over Law, or Scott’s Law, requiring motorists to slow down and move over when approaching any vehicle with activated emergency or hazard lights.
