Kewanee High School Drivers Ed Students Experience Seat Belt Convincer Challenge

Students in Kewanee High School’s Driver’s Ed Course learned about seatbelt safety during a June 22nd course. Courtesy of a visit by Illinois State Police Trooper Jason Wilson and the Seat Belt Convincer Challenge, students experienced why it is important to wear a seatbelt in case of a crash. According to Trooper Jason Wilson:

“The Convincer: The innovative safety education tool allows an individual to experience how a safety belt protects them from injury when they are involved in a crash. Once a rider is properly restrained into the Convincer’s seat, they ride to the bottom of the slide and experience a five to seven mph crash. The Convincer is used to educate audiences of all ages, its primary target is teenage drivers. Safety Education Officers will use the device during the Illinois State Fair and at safety education presentations around the state.”
