    Peak afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

    From noon Saturday to 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Kewanee Man Charged with Possession of a Gun without FOID and Controlled Substance

A Henry County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted an investigative traffic stop outside Kewanee on a vehicle owned by a Kewanee man with an active warrant.  Around 9:30 PM on July 21st, a Henry County Deputy identified the driver of the vehicle as 55-year-old Luis Almanza.  Almanza had an active warrant for Failure to Appear on June 5th for a driving on a suspended license citation.   While searching the vehicle, the Deputy found a loaded 9mm gun, 9mm magazine and suspected controlled substance.  Almanza is in custody of the Henry County Jail on a $50,000 (10%) bond.  A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled on July 31, 2023, at 1 PM.

Almanza was transported to the Henry County Jail and charged with two counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony) and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Class 4 Felony).

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kewanee Police Department.  All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
