Nickolus McPherson accepted a Plea Deal that sends him to the Illinois Department of Corrections for two years for Possession of Meth. McPherson was scheduled for a plea on on May 9th but he failed to appear to the hearing because his ride didn’t show up, according to what he told his attorney. A warrant was issued for his arrest and McPherson turned himself into the Kewanee Police Department on May 26th. McPherson pleaded Guilty to Possession of Meth <5 grams for case 2021CF195 and Resisting arrest for case 2022CF162. McPherson also admitted that he violated the terms of his probation for case 2020CF25. The remaining charges and cases are dismissed by the State pursuant to the plea agreement.
McPherson was sentenced to two years in IDOC, 6 months Mandatory Supervised Release, Credit for Time Served, $75 fine plus assessments for Possession of Methamphetamine. He was sentenced to time served and a $75 fine plus assessments for Resisting Arrest. McPherson must report to the court within 180 days of release from IDOC to make payment arrangements for monies owed on the Guilty Plea for Threatening a Public Official in 2020.
On April 8, 2021, Kewanee Police conducted a traffic stop on North East Street in Kewanee on a vehicle driven by Mr. McPherson. The K9 alerted on the vehicle and suspected Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. The substance later tested positive for Meth. On May 22, 2022, the Kewanee Police Department was dispatched to a bar in Kewanee for a male subject with an active warrant. Kewanee Police located Mr. McPherson inside the establishment and placed him under arrest. Mr. McPherson pulled away from police officers while in handcuffs but was detained by the three officers on scene.
McPherson was originally charged with Obstructing Justice (Class 4 Felony), Resisting a Peace Officer (Class 4 Felony) and Resisting (Class A Misdemeanor) for case 22CF162. McPherson is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony) for case 21CF251. McPherson is charged with Possession of Meth <5 grams (Class 3 Felony) for case 21CF195.
