The Kewanee Chamber of Commerce has more good news about Kewanee Retail Sales. According to information provided by Chamber Director Mark Mikenas, the first 6 months of 2023 are up over 2% from numbers in 2022. 2022 was a record year for retail sales in the City of Kewanee. Retail sales for 2023 are $127.1 million dollars and increases in the 2nd quarter were recorded in the following categories: Food 15.7%, Drinking & Eating Places 8.6%, Apparel 11%, Furniture, Household Goods 12.1%, Lumber & Building Supplies 9.6% and Small Retail 6.8%. In a statement, Mark Mikenas says
“This is good news for Kewanee as 2022 was a record breaking year when it comes to retail sales with $251 million in total sales. If we can stay on track and continue to utilize our local businesses for goods and services we may very well see a record set again for 2023.”
