Kewanee Police Department Accepting Telecommunicator Applications


The Kewanee Police Department is accepting applications for Telecommunicators.  Applications are due December 12th, 2022 by 5 PM.  The TENTATIVE testing date is December 15th, 2022 at 5 PM. Applicants will be notified of any deadline or testing changes through the contact information provided in this application.

Applications are being accepted by the City of Kewanee to establish an eligibility register for the position of Police Department Telecommunicator. The eligibility register is valid for two years upon finalization. The starting hourly wage is currently $20.83 with additional benefits including paid time off, health insurance, and shift differential pay.  The position takes place in a professional Police Department setting and entails interaction with other staff members and the public throughout the day. There are currently no anticipated vacancies in this position.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.  A high school diploma (or its equivalent) is required, must be a United States Citizen, must not have any felony convictions nor have been convicted of any serious misdemeanors, must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements including but not limited to an initial background investigation, written examination, oral interview, polygraph, psychological examination, and pre-employment medical exam, must reside within (15) miles of the City of Kewanee within one year of hire and must also be able to furnish a copy of any documents requested by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners or background investigators. Documents include a certified birth certificate, high school diploma (or its equivalent), a certified copy of a college transcript, military records, etc.
