In a vote that was not unanimous, it was agreed by the Board that Coach Swanson would not be renewed. Following the vote by the School Board Coach Swanson released a statement on Social Media regarding his time as Kewanee Head Football Coach…

“Boilermaker Family,
For the past 4 years I have had the honor of being the Head Football Coach at Kewanee High School. It has been truly one of the greatest experiences in my life to lead this football program. Now it is time for me to turn the page on this amazing chapter of my life and let someone else lead this program.
During my 4 years at Kewanee High School, I have been blessed to be part of 2 playoff teams and countless victories over teams that qualified for the playoffs. I will always be proud of our on-field successes, but what I will value the most from my time at Kewanee is the people. The true value of being part of any team is the relationships forged through the pursuit of a common goal.
Boilermaker Football Players: Thank you for believing in me and trusting me and my staff. I love every single one of you and I am always just a phone call away.
Boilermaker Coaches and Staff: Thank you for your loyalty and devotion to our program the last 4 years. I love you guys and you have helped leave this program in a good place.
Boilermaker Parents and Fans: I have been so blessed with some of the best parents and support staff ever. You guys have exceeded my expectations in every way possible. You are all appreciated way more than you will ever know.
And lastly, to my family, Bridgette, Patrick, Casey, and Grace, thank you for the tremendous support allowing me to chase my dream as a head football coach. You girls and Patrick running onto the field after every game win or lose and giving me a hug, will always be the best memories from here.
Thank you Kewanee for giving me this opportunity and making Kewanee football apart of our lives. The stands, atmosphere, and continued support every Friday night does not go unrecognized. I am so thankful for every bit of it.
Thank you again!
Coach Swanson”

Dr. Chris Sullens, Kewanee School District Superintendent will be our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties at 8:25 AM on Friday, February 24th and we will ask the Superintendent about the decision not to renew Coach Swanson.
