The Kewanee Police Department introduced their new K-9 Officer at Monday’s City Council meeting. Officer Josh Carpenter was selected to be the new K-9 handler and he chose a male Belgian Malinois to be his K-9 Partner. The Kewanee police Department held a contest to choose a name for the new K-9. The winning name was Maverick. Maverick is about one-and-half years old. There will be a drawing of the kids that picked the name Maverick and the winning student will get a pizza party for their class. Officer Carpenter and Maverick started their 10-week training course on March 13, 2023.  Welcome to Kewanee Maverick.
