In Silvis, IL, an eco-friendly event is set to take root at Gauley Field this Wednesday, May 22nd, as Living Lands & Waters, in association with John Deere Classic and the local government, distribute 1,929 trees to the community. This “Birdies for Trees” event celebrates each birdie from the 2023 John Deere Classic golf tournament with a new tree. The initiative kicks off at 12:45 PM with a special tree planting by students from George O. Barr Elementary, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship. Community members are invited to join in by picking up their own free saplings, including Swamp White Oaks, Red Oaks, and Pecans, to plant at home, enriching local greenery and sustainability efforts.
