“Liz Breedlove has retired as Executive Director of the Kewanee Schools Foundation, effective September 30, 2023. Due to personal circumstances, Breedlove feels it necessary to retire at this time. She announced her plans at the Foundation’s Board of Directors meeting on June 12.
Breedlove first joined Kewanee Schools Foundation in September, 2019. She said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my position over the last four years. I have been blessed to have the support of the Foundation Board, Board of Education, Superintendent, Dr. Chris Sullens, and an excellent foundation assistant, Mindi Goard, to fulfill the mission of the Foundation of strengthening educational opportunities for the students in the District, and promoting community engagement within the District.”
Lori Christiansen, Kewanee Schools Foundation President commented “We will greatly miss Liz’s leadership with our Foundation. She has set the bar extremely high for the individual who succeeds her. Her contributions to the Foundation have been many, including a number of major gifts and naming opportunities, a new Legacy Society focused on planned giving, reestablishing the Annual Fund and Year-End Appeals, and developing a Foundation Annual Report. Liz also reestablished a number of special events, purchased a new donor and alumni database software system, updated the Wall of Honor Plaque System and added structure for a comprehensive fundraising program.”
“I will miss working with our loyal alumni and donors in the community; as well as the administrators, teachers, staff and board volunteers who are committed to educating our students” concluded Breedlove.
Breedlove is retiring with over 23 years of fundraising experience, having previously been employed in the same capacity with Black Hawk College East Foundation and Kewanee Hospital Foundation. “I feel fortunate to have worked in education and healthcare during my career, both of which are very important to our community.”
Efforts are underway to hire a permanent executive director to continue the important work of the Foundation. Any interested candidates may contact the Foundation office for more information.”
