Local Farm Bureau’s Raise More than $23,000 for River Bend Food Bank

The Henry, Mercer, and Rock Island Farm Bureaus have been overseeing the latest Bushels for Hunger with great success. On Thursday, the local Farm Bureau’s delivered a check for $23,600 to the River Bend Food. The money raised was part of the 13th Annual Bushels for Hunger in which local farmers set aside portions of grain at local grain elevators to be donated and sold for charity. According to the River Bend Food Bank the financial donation will purchase 118,016 meals for families in need in Eastern Iowa and Western-Central Illinois communities. All told, in 13 years of Bushels for Hunger has raised $300,723 dollars for the River Bend Food Bank. Katie Laleman from the Henry County Farm Bureau will give us a further wrap-up of Bushels for Hunger on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023.
