Mike Wells Named President of OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center

Mike Wells has been named president OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, effective February 19, 2023. Mike Wells will replace Bob Anderson, who now serves as chief executive officer for the central region of OSF HealthCare.

Mr. Wells will be accountable for leading OSF Saint Francis in aligning with the overall strategy of OSF HealthCare. He will be responsible for directing all internal operations while continuing to ensure that high quality and cost-effective health care is delivered to patients throughout Peoria and surrounding communities.

Mike Wells has served the OSF HealthCare Ministry since 2005, first as the director of the Resource Link program for OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois. He has held the position of president of OSF Children’s Hospital since 2019. During his tenure, he navigated the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic; oversaw the opening of Almost Home Kids, a post-acute care facility for children transferring from hospital to home; marked the expansion of the pediatric Emergency Department to 24/7; and added pediatric ophthalmology to the array of subspecialties, bringing the total to more than 40 offered through OSF Children’s Hospital and the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.

“I am honored and excited to be selected as the next president of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center,” said Wells. “The health care landscape has changed over the course of the past three years during the pandemic, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to and focus on providing the highest quality care to those we have been called to serve. I look forward to helping the OSF Ministry navigate the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Mike Wells holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Illinois State University and a Master of Science in clinical counseling psychology.

Mike Wells will work with Bob Anderson over the coming months to recruit for the president of OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
