Moline Fire Department Battle Overnight Structure Fires on April 3rd and 4th

The Moline Fire Department battled structure fires overnight on Sunday and Monday.  On April 3rd at 2:57 AM, The Moline Fire Department responded to a fire at a two-story Duplex at 1109 14th Avenue with fire and smoke showing in the back of the building.  Smoke detectors in the home alerted the occupants of the fire and allowing the occupants to evacuate prior to Fire Department arrival.  The first fire company on scene began an aggressive attack of the fire inside the structure.  The next fire companies on scene assisted with fire suppression.  The fire was under control in approximately 30 minutes and fire crews remained on scene completing overhaul and watching for hotspots.  The three residents displaced by the fire are being assisted by the Red Cross.  One Firefighter was injured during the fire and was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.  Moline Fire Department was assisted by East Moline, Rock Island and Arsenal Fire Departments, Moline Second Alarmers, MidAmerican Energy and the Red Cross.  The fire is under investigation by the Moline Fire Department Bureau of Investigations.

On April 4th at 12:53 AM, The Moline Fire Department responded to a two-story single-family home at 5411 34th Avenue with smoke and fire coming from the roof.  The occupants of the residence reported smelling smoke and were alerted by smoke detectors allowing the occupants to evacuate prior to fire department arrival.  The first fire company on scene began an interior attack of the fire.  The next fire companies on scene assisted with fire suppression.  The fire was under control in approximately 10 minutes.  Fire crews remained on scene for an additional hour checking for smoldering fire in the ceiling.  There were no injuries from this fire and five residents were displaced from the fire.  Moline Fire Department was assisted by East Moline, Rock Island and Arsenal Fire Departments, MidAmerican Energy and Moline Police.  The fire is under investigation by the Moline Fire Department Bureau of Investigations.
