Moline Fire Department Battles Late Night Structure Fire

No one was hurt, but at least one person did suffer some smoke inhalation, due to a fire at 3430 60th Street in Moline on Tuesday night. According to the Moline Fire Department, a 911 call was received at around 11:26 PM on Tuesday night for a structure fire. The first arriving truck arrived at the scene within three minutes of the call. The structure in question is a duplex that did not have working smoke alarms. Thankfully, the only resident managed to escape the building with only minor smoke inhalation and was waiting outside as firefighters arrived.

The first arriving fire company began an aggressive attack of the fire. Next arriving fire companies entered the adjacent duplex and checked for extension of fire inside that home. The fire was brought under control in approximately thirty minutes with fire crew’s remaining on-scene for two hours completing overhaul and looking for hidden fire still burning. One person was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation. One (resident was displaced from their home and is being assisted by the Red Cross. The adjacent duplex sustained smoke damage from the fire.

Initial Moline Fire response included seventeen on-duty personnel occupying four engine companies, a command vehicle and two ambulances. Two off-duty Chief Officers responded to assist with scene and City coverage during the event. Further assistance was also provided by the East Moline, Rock Island and Arsenal Fire Departments. Moline Second Alarmers, MidAmerican Energy and the Red Cross assisted at the scene as well.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Moline Fire Department Bureau of Investigations.
