The Moline Fire Department responded to a structure fire on March 14, 2023, around 10 PM at 2609 6th Avenue. The first fire company arrived on scene to find a two-story family home with fire and smoke in the front porch of the house. Three adults and one child self-evacuated the home prior to fire department arrival. The first arriving fire company began extinguishing the fire that was contained to the exterior porch area. The next arriving crews entered the home and checked for fires and to confirm that all occupants had evacuated. The fire was brought under control in about ten minutes.
Four residents were displaced from their home and refused assistance from the Red Cross. No occupants were injured during the fire. No smoke alarms were present or alerting when the fire department arrived on scene.
Initial Moline Fire response included seventeen on-duty personnel occupying three engine companies one aerial unit, a command vehicle and two ambulances. Assistance was provided by the East Moline, Rock Island and Arsenal Fire Departments, Moline Second Alarmers, MidAmerican Energy and Moline Police Department.
