Moline Police and FBI Arrest Chicago Man in Moline Bank Robbery

A 55 year old Chicago resident is under arrest for the daring daylight robbery at at Chase Bank location in Moline last week. 55 year old Eric A. Boyd of Chicago was taken into custody at his home in Chicago over the weekend after the FBI Springfield Division Quad Cities Safe Streets Task Force and Moline Police detectives served a search warrant and an arrest warrant at Boyd’s home. Boyd has been charged with Armed Bank Robbery and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence by the United States Attorney for the Central District of Illinois.

“This was just outstanding police work by Det. Mike Griffin, Det. Jeremy McAuliffe, Det. Sean Hoover, Det. Cesar Lopez and Lt. Andrew Raya. While I cannot go into the details of the investigation, I can say it was great work by this skilled investigative team that resulted in a quick arrest of a suspect in this case,” said Chief Darren Gault. “We would also like to thank our partners with the FBI for their assistance on this case. Moline has had a long partnership with the FBI and we work very closely with the local agents. The Moline Police Department has federally deputized task force officers working on the FBI Quad Cities Safe Streets Task Force, which makes the partnership very efficient and effective for our community.”

Boyd appeared in court over the weekend and is now housed at the Rock Island County Jail without bond. On May 1st at approximately 9 AM, a man now believed to be Boyd entered the Chase Bank location at 501 15th Street in Moline, brandishing a weapon and wearing a mask. The man was seen on CCTV cameras in the bank and was captured in security footage fleeing the bank immediately following the robbery. No other information regarding the case had been released until Boyd was arrested on Friday.
