“Moments by Mutti” is a local charity created in 2013, by the children of Lynn “Mutti” Saey, to honor their mother and her battle with Cancer. Lynn Saey lost her battle with Lymphoma in 2011. Tami, Todd, Kim, Kelli, and Kerri started “Moments by Mutti” to give people suffering from Cancer a “Moment” away from everyday life to enjoy precious time with family and friends. The 2023 shirt fundraiser is an online store at Breedlove’s Sporting Goods in Kewanee and the theme is “Enjoy the moments”. The online store CLOSES on November 12, 2023, so get your 2023 shirt while you can! The online shirt store is the main fundraiser planned for the charity at this time. Kelli Rashid said she wants to get the word out about the shirt sales and hopes to get enough money for the charity that they won’t need a big fundraiser. The online store allows a larger selection of shirt styles and colors for adults, children, and toddlers. “Moments by Mutti” has allowed 30 recipients to spend time away from everyday life and make lasting memories with family and friends. The group provides gift cards for gas, hotel stays, tickets to events, and gift cards for meals, to give someone suffering from cancer a break from their daily life. They have given skydiving, Chicago Cubs tickets, mini-trips, and catered a home-cooked meal for Christmas. Kelli Saey Rashid said the group wants to know the people they help. Kelli said they won’t need to hold a public benefit if private donations remain consistent and the yearly shirt fundraiser does well. Most recently, Nick Welgat was able to take 40 family and friends to a house in Morrison, Illinois, for a long weekend to relax and create lasting memories. They gave Theresa Brock a three-night stay at the Starved Rock Lodge for family and friends, including meals at the Starved Rock Lodge Buffet and gas cards for travel expenses. Jeanna Moore is the next recipient on the list to get a trip for her and her family and friends to attend a Kansas City Chiefs game on Christmas Day. Heidi Heinrich, Ty Sandford, Liz Tanzillo, James Hill, Andrea Bond, Nick Welgat, and Theresa Brock are a few families helped by “Moments by Mutti”.
