Motion to Reconsider Sentencing Denied, Wheaton Remanded to IDOC to Serve Sentence

Judge Terry Patton handed down a fast decision for Christopher Wheaton’s Motion to Reconsider Sentencing.  Judge Terry Patton said the sentencing is within parameters and stands by his decision.  The Motion to Reconsider Sentencing was denied and Christopher Wheaton was remanded into custody to begin serving his sentence at the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) Stateville Correctional Center.  He has a possible projected parole date of August 19, 2042 with 3 years to life of Mandatory Supervised Release.  Defense Attorney Camp instructed the Clerk to file a notice for intent to appeal.

On November 15, 2022, Judge Terry Patton sentenced Chris Wheaton to 15 years in IDOC for Count 1 of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault and 10 years for Count 2 of Criminal Sexual Assault of a Family Member.  Wheaton must serve 85% of his sentence by law and he receives credit for time served. He will get Mandatory Supervised Release for up to life to be determined by the Prison board upon his release.  He must submit a DNA Sample, STD/HIV test and appear within 30 days of release to arrange payment of fines and assessments.  He must register as a sex offender upon release from prison.
