The former Toulon Alderman charged with possession and distribution child pornography attempted to recant his guilty plea last week but the request was denied by a Federal Judge. Jason Musselman was sentenced to 300 months for five counts of production of child pornography and 120 months for distribution of child pornography and possession of material containing child pornography. The sentence is a total of 35 years and will be served consecutively. He must also serve 85% of each sentence and pay $60,000 in restitution. He was sentenced to a lifetime of Mandatory Supervised Release following his prison sentences.
Jason Musselman, 35, changed his plea to Guilty in Federal Court on November 17, 2022 for Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography. Musselman admitted to using a tanning bed to capture images of minors without their knowledge. Musselman plead guilty to Production of Child Pornography, Distribution of Child Pornography and Possession of Material Containing Child Pornography. The remaining four charges dismissed.
Musselman has until June 7th to respond to the civil suits by nine of him victims. To protect their identity, the victims are identified as Jane Doe’s.
Musselman was originally charged with nine counts of Possession of Child Pornography in January of 2022 in Stark County. The charges were dismissed by the State in March of 2022 when Musselman was indicted in Federal Court. Musselman is charged with recording people, including minors, using a tanning bed in his residence between April 2010 and March 2013.
