Narcotics Operation by Kewanee Police Gets 4 Ounces of Meth off the Streets

Kewanee Police make another big drug bust during a narcotics operation with the Henry County Special Operations Squad on Sunday morning.  The Kewanee Police Department executed a search warrant at 706 E. 4th Street with assistance from the Henry County Special Operations Squad on January 22, 2023.  Around midnight, officers seized approximately 111 grams of Methamphetamine, approximately 3 grams of Heroin, digital scales, drug paraphernalia and drug packaging materials from the residence.    Joseph P. Menold, 51, of Kewanee was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver.  He was processed at the Kewanee Police Department and later transported to the Henry County Jail.  Yajaira Z. Vazquez, 39 of Kewanee was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 3 Felony). Vazquez was given a notice to appear for her charge and released with a court date on February 27th, 2023.

Menold is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 100-400 grams (Class X Felony), Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Deliver 100-400 grams (enhanced Class X Felony), and Possession of Heroin (Class 4 Felony). The enhanced Class X Felony carries a potential sentence of 9-40 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Menold remains in custody of the Henry County Jail on a $100,000 (10%) bond. He is also being held on a no-bond warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections. His preliminary hearing is set for January 30th, 2023, at 1 PM.
