According to the National Weather Service, there is a very high to extreme fire danger across the area today, April 12, 2023. Unseasonably warm temperatures, peaking in the lower to mid 80’s, gusty southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph and minimum Relative Humidity values of 20% to 25% will lead to critical fire weather conditions for much of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois today. Outdoor burning should be avoided. Warm, dry, and windy conditions will bring about more very high to possibly extreme fire danger for Thursday.  Many Cities and Counties have issued burn bans so call your City or County before burning to ensure it’s safe to burn.
