New Attorney for Kewanee Man Charged with First Degree Murder in Bureau County

There is another change of counsel for the Kewanee man charged with fatally shooting 17-year-old Caleb Conrath in Princeton in July of 2020, the victims mother was also shot but survived.  Maureen Williams was privately hired in June for Davijion Robinson, 21, of Kewanee but withdrew as counsel on October 24, 2022.  Attorney Bradley Popurella from the Public Defenders office has been appointed as counsel for Robinson.  Despite the change in counsel, the Final Pre-Trial is scheduled for December 14, 2022, at 9 AM at the Bureau County Courthouse.  The Trial is scheduled for February 6, 2023, at 9 AM.  Robinson remains in custody of the Bureau County Jail without bond.  Davijion Robinson is charged with two (2) counts of First Degree Murder (Class M Felony), Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class X Felony) and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony).

Davijion Robinson and a juvenile fled Princeton to Kewanee following the shooting.  The juvenile driver of the vehicle was apprehended in Kewanee shortly after dumping the car and fleeing on foot.  Robinson was able to elude law enforcement for 13 months until he was captured in Decatur, Illinois.  Read more here.
