Early on the morning of May 7th, 2024, a tragic three-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of IL RT 251 and N 38th Rd near Mendota. A LaSalle County Deputy discovered the accident, which sadly resulted in the death of one male individual. Additionally, four others sustained injuries that, thankfully, are not life-threatening and were promptly transported to local hospitals. Multiple emergency service teams, including Mendota Fire/EMS and Troy Grove Fire, responded to provide aid. The incident is currently under thorough investigation by the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, alongside Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction specialists and the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office.
