    WHAT
    Peak afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees expected.
    WHERE
    Portions of north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
    WHEN
    From noon Saturday to 8 PM CDT Monday.
    IMPACTS
    Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Heat impacts will be worsened by several consecutive days of sweltering temperatures. Additionally, there will be little relief overnight with near record warm lows forecast in the mid to upper 70s.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

OSF Saint Luke Medical Center Announces Scholarship Winners for 2023

A huge congratulations goes out to the five students selected to receive scholarships from OSF Saint Luke Medical Center. With $5000 raised for scholarships, each student was able to be awarded a $1000.00 scholarship.

Ailynn Duarte is a junior at Loyola University pursuing a degree in biology as a pre-med student. She has plans to become a rural health care physician. Ailynn is a Kewanee native and graduate of Kewanee High School.

Kaylynn McNamee is a Mission Partner at OSF Medical Group in Kewanee. She is pursuing an associate degree in nursing through Black Hawk College. Kaylynn lives in Kewanee with her family.

​Macey Lippens is a graduate of Wethersfield High School. She is pursuing a degree in psychology at Western Illinois University and hopes to work in a mental health care setting.

Patrick Crowley is a Wyoming native and student at St. Ambrose University. He is pursuing his doctorate in physical therapy and looks forward to working with patients to improve their health and wellness.

Paige Leander is a graduate of Cambridge High School and attends the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as an Interdisciplinary Health Sciences major.
